Avelino recruits Ghetts, BackRoad Gee and Glen Matlock for new cut "Vex"
Avelino has teamed up with Ghetts, BackRoad Gee and former Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock for his new God Save The Streets single "Vex".
"Vex" is Avelino's first release since his "Daily Duppy" freestyle landed at the start of the month, and sees him join forces with Ghetts, BackRoad Gee and Glen Matlock on guitar. The new single is produced by Payday and Fraser T Smith, with additional production from Raf Riley, DJ RLO, Rayo and Sakari.
Avelino says of the single, ""Vex" embodies my suggestion that rap is the new punk. In a world where the punk movement is no longer the music of the streets, we’ve taken its place and this hard hitting collaboration with my brothers Ghetts & BackRoad was the perfect way of embodying that. It was a pleasure to have Glen Matlock from the Sex Pistols playing guitar at the end, and to have the legend approve of my vision."
The new outing will appear on his debut album God Save The Streets with last year's "God Save The Streets Pt. 2".
God Save The Streets will follow Avelino's 2021 project EGO KILLS. The forthcoming record is executive produced by Wretch 32 and overseen by Fraser T Smith.
"Vex" featuring Ghetts, BackRoad Gee and Glen Matlock is out now. Avelino's debut album God Save The Streets will arrive on 14 April, and is available to pre-order now.
