Attawalpa announces debut album Presence, has scored and soundtracked Lena Dunham's forthcoming films
Attawalpa has shared news of his debut album Presence and a new single titled "Look Away", and has also revealed he's scored and soundtracked Lena Dunham's upcoming films Sharp Stick and Catherine, Called Birdy.
Peruvian-British artist Attawalpa has announced his debut album Presence today (24 August), and has also released new single "Look Away" to accompany the news, which arrives with a Ralph Fuller-directed video.
Attawalpa, real name Luis Felber, says of the new track, "Lyrically, it comes from a feeling I would (and still do) tackle in my day-to-day: the inability to express my feelings in the moment, the inability to say no when I want to say no. It's a work in progress and people are complex. To sail through life, we have to be honest with our feelings as we get them. Dealing with dissociation most of my life, I find this song to be a good reminder and it all falls under the album title Presence. We are not alone and all we have is our ability to make choices."
"Look Away" is the third song to be lifted from Presence, following "Ignore The Pollution" and "Too Much".
The album was recorded between New York's Electric Lady Studios, London's Eastcote Studios and Off Licence Recordings.
As well as working on his debut album, Felber has been busy scoring and soundtracking Sharp Stick and Catherine, Called Birdy, two new films written and directed by his wife Lena Dunham (Girls). A press release states that the Catherine, Called Birdy soundtrack will feature portions of the score by composer Carter Burwell and cover of songs by Supergrass, The Angels, Elastica, Billie Piper, Alicia Keys, Mazzy Star and Rod Steward, as well as two original songs from Felber.
