Ásgeir and Arny Margret collaborate on new single, "Part Of Me"
Iceland natives Ásgeir and Arny Margret have collaborated on the brand new single, "Part Of Me".
“Even though Ásgeir and I work in the same studio and have the same team around us we’ve never worked together until now. I think we’re both quite introverted and shy people but for the last few months we’ve gotten to know each other a bit more," Margret says. "Ásgeir had a guitar riff and we tried making some melodies over it. It was a super quick process and I’m very happy with the outcome. I’ve always looked up to Ásgeir, so it was very special for me to get to work with him.”
“I was in the studio playing around with some chords on the guitar when Arny walked in, and we spontaneously decided to write something together," Ásgeir adds. "When we kind of had the melody down, we decided on what the lyrics should be about and then both of us went home and wrote something down. The next day we went back to the studio and finished both the lyrics and the song in a few hours.”
As one of Iceland’s most successful artists, Ásgeir released his debut album, Dýrð í dauðaþögn, ten years ago. It was the best-selling debut record ever in Iceland. His fourth studio album, Time On My Hands, was released earlier this year.
"Part Of Me" is out now via One Little Independent Records.
