Arlo Parks announces new single "Blades"
On 16 April, Arlo Parks took to her socials to announce the release of the third single from her forthcoming album.
"Blades" follows on from "Weightless" and "Impurities" – and will be part of her second studio album My Soft Machine.
My Soft Machine is the the follow-up to her 2021 Mercury Prize-winning debut album Collapsed In Sunbeams. Of the forthcoming album, Arlo Parks says it is about, "life through my lens, through my body. The mid-20s anxiety, the substance abuse of friends around me, the viscera of being in love for the first time, navigating PTSD and grief, and self-sabotage, and joy. Moving through worlds with wonder and sensitivity. What it's like to be trapped in this particular body."
This news comes exactly a year after she made her Coachella debut, and made a surprise appearance during Phoebe Bridgers' performance with the pair singing "Graceland Too" and "I Know The End", with Bridgers duetting on "Black Dog" earlier in the day.
"Blades" is out on 19 April and is available to pre-save now. My Soft Machine will be released on 26 May via Transgressive.
