Andy Shauf announces new album with opening cut "Wasted On You"
Andy Shauf has returned with news of his upcoming album Norm, and has unveiled the first outing "Wasted On You".
"Wasted On You" is the opening track from Shauf's new record, and arrives with a V Haddad-directed video. It also marks Shauf's first release since February's "Satan" and "Jacob Rose" songs.
Norm will follow Shauf's 2021 album Wilds. He plays every instrument on the self-produced record, which was recorded in his garage studio.
Shauf was inspired by David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, which led him to rewrite all of the album’s original lyrics, and recruit Nicholas Olson as a story editor. After writing the title-track, he decided the album should have a narrative built around a character called Norm. "The character of Norm is introduced in a really nice way," Shauf says. "But the closer you pay attention to the record, the more you're going to realise that it's sinister."
