Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black set for release in April 2024
The biopic about Amy Winehouse which has been teased by the late singer's father Mitch Winehouse since 2020 has finally been given a release date.
Back to Black is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey, Nowhere Boy, A Million Little Pieces), and sees Industry's Marisa Abela star as Winehouse, and Jack O’Connell (Skins, This Is England, Unbroken) appearring as Blake Fielder-Civil, Winehouse’s former husband. This is the first Amy Winehouse film to be backed by her family, following multiple unauthorised releases including 2015's Amy and 2018's Amy Winehouse: Back to Black.
Taylor-Johnson completed the film with writer Martin Greenhalgh; the pair previously worked together on the 2009 John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy.
