Amy director Asif Kapadia working on new documentary series about Camden music scene for Disney+
Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna) is working on a new documentary series for Disney+ called Camden that will celebrate the "ever-evolving music scene" of the North London area.
News of Camden was shared by Disney+ last week (via Deadline) at Edinburgh TV Festival, and as well as confirming commissioned pieces including a documentary about Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney's trial, another about Vogue, and a Formula 1 series voiced by Keanu Reeves, Disney+ also revealed news about Camden, a four-part documentary series about the North London area's music scene.
According to Deadline, Camden will be directed by Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna). Simon and Jonathan Chinn's Lightbox, and Day One Pictures (production company co-founded by original manager Nick Shymansky, Jasper Waller-Bridge and Ben Friedman) are also on board.
Kapadia said of the docuseries, "I’m a born and bred North Londoner and Camden has been a key part of my life; I’ve had all sorts of experiences there: good, great…and edgy. This series celebrates an ever-evolving music scene in a unique place which has always been at the forefront of counterculture and has a musical legacy to match anywhere in the world. I am delighted to be working with Lightbox and Day One and we are hugely excited that Disney+ has given us a global platform for to tell this special story."
Camden is yet to get a release date, but is expected to arrive in 2024 latest.
