Adult Mom's Stevie Knipe calls out the quality of Speak Now (Taylor's Version)
Following the release of Taylor Swift's highly anticipated album, Speak Now (Taylor's Version), Stevie Knipe of Adult Mom shares their thoughts on the quality of the tracks.
In a series of tweets posted earlier today, Knipe dissected the quality of the mixing engineer in the series of re-recordings that Swift has been releasing – "whoever the fuck is mixing these TV songs needs to be jailed".
Noting that it should've been an easy job to replicate the songs, as the references were already in place, Knipe specifically focuses on levels of the instruments such as the opening riff on "Back To December", and the balance between piano and drums on "Last Kiss" – "who said “yeah let’s throw that god awful sounding piano line right at the front of the mix on top of that horrible sounding reverberated compressed drum” in last kiss".
WHY IS THE BANJO SO LOW IN THE MIX IN MEAN??? WTF IS GOING ON……..I’m actually annoyed like they had the perfect mix references jfkdkfjkdjdj

Unsurprisingly, Knipe is not the only person to have noticed the regression in quality, with one user mentioning that the quality of "Sparks Fly" is "soooo bad", whilst another said "All the remakes sound like they were mixed on GarageBand".
Taylor Swift faced controversy over the 'slut-shaming' lyrics in "Better Than Revenge", and has subsequently changed the lyrics on Speak Now (Taylor's Version) as fans had been suspecting.
Haven't listened yet but this was my biggest gripe with Red TV & I was hoping it wouldn't be the case this time around :(

oomf said taylor's versions have higher mixing quality but they don't have the same passion or playfulness as the originals and i love the album but i can't unsee it 🥸

😭😭😭 the acoustic guitar in Back to December also is not NEARLY as forward as it should be.
