ABBA are gearing up to release special 50th anniversary edition of Waterloo album
Fifty years after ABBA’s international breakthrough with "Waterloo" in the Eurovision Song Contest, Polar Music International will be celebrating the milestone with a special reissue of the eponymous album.
Waterloo, ABBA’s second album, was first released in Sweden in March 1974. It was an enormous success: up to that point, no other album had sold as many copies in the group’s home country. The Waterloo album will be reissued as a Half-Speed mastered 45RPM 2LP Vinyl, along with a limited edition box set of the three vinyl singles originally released by Polar in 1974; the singles are also available as separate picture discs. To top it all off, there is a unique ten-inch vinyl disc featuring "Waterloo" in four different languages and a new line of anniversary apparel.
To celebrate the anniversary release, for one night only (4 April), Up at The O2 is giving fans the chance to dance along to ABBA’s hits on the roof of The O2. Vistors can climb the London landmark, then swap their climbing shoes for dancing shoes and enjoy a special ABBA silent disco at the O2, featuring back to back ABBA hits against the backdrop of the London’s skyline.
The 50th anniversary reissue of Waterloo is due for release on 5 April, and is available to pre-order now. For more information on the Up at The O2 event, visit aegeurope.com.
