404 Guild share new cut "The Evening Star"
404 Guild have released new single "The Evening Star" as the second outing from their upcoming debut album False Dawn.
After announcing False Dawn with the lead single "Feedback Loop" last month, 404 Guild have delivered a second cut from the record titled "The Evening Star", which lands with a SAMBU-directed video.
404 Guild say of the new release, "This one’s the way back home. Looking forward, looking back, headlights cutting through the fog. Musically it’s unlike anything we’ve released before, we kept surprising ourselves when we were making it. It all came out of improvising over a sample, the groove sucked everyone in and it all fell into place. We’re excited to play this live - there’s a feeling of communion in the vocals."
False Dawn will be their first collection of tracks since their Guild Three: Open Water EP landed in October 2021. "A full length Guild record is something we’d been dreaming of for so long but when it came to making it initially it didn’t click," 404 Guild said of the album last month. "We had around 50 songs in various stages of completion but between them we just couldn’t find ‘the album’. So we did the only logical thing and scrapped it all. We rented a cottage in the middle of nowhere out in the sticks and gave ourselves fourteen days to write the whole thing. Somehow it worked."
They added, "False Dawn is a flag stuck in the ground at the end of a long dark road. But for us, it’s only the beginning."
"The Evening Star" is out now. 404 Guild's debut album False Dawn will arrive via Dirty Hit on 9 December. They'll play The Social in London on 7 December. Visit dice.fm for tickets.
