While the work of Edinburgh newcomer Stefan Noons may well be labelled as a ‘bedroom project’, its reach promises to be far greater than whichever four walls he’s currently shacked-up inside of. First track ‘Riverine’ showcased his talent; a beautifully produced, but perhaps slightly overblown, journey through sultry synths and romanticised vocals.
New track ‘Signals’ takes the project to a whole different level, however. The musical backdrop is less prominent – but no less impressive – and that tender sense of restraint allows Noon’s startling vocals to quietly steal the show. World-weary but full of dizzying aptitude, it’s a voice to cherish and a track to adore. Rather special indeed.
