On ‘Any Damn Kid’, one of their earliest cuts, aired shortly after forming at the start of 2013, Model Aeroplanes sing ‘we’re just like / all the other kids’. We beg to disagree. Kids, sure – no one in the indie-pop four-piece is over the age of eighteen – but certainly not like everyone else.

Hailing from Dundee, the lifelong friends have been playing music for years in a variety of bands and formations. Settling rather successfully into the Model Aeroplanes groove, they have uploaded a handful of promising tracks to their SoundCloud page, ‘Crazy’ is their official debut single.

Filling the void left while Bombay Bicycle Club put together a fourth album, Model Aeroplanes work that brand of indie that anchors pop sensibilities in tight guitar and drum lines and throws in some pretty vocal harmonies to boot.

With hints of Vampire Weekend - especially ‘Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa’ – in verses played out with bouncy rhythm and riffs, ‘Crazy’ has a very tropical feel in parts, which complements the more straightforward chorus lines well. Polished and cohesive, ‘Crazy’ suggests a bright future for the sharp young Scots.
