If this Nashville electro-pop band are to be taken literally, we should all start taking better care of our smartphones. Potentially difficult ethical issues aside, Machines Are People Too are focused on a far more lighthearted pursuit: getting you to dance. Synthpop and summer go hand in hand and MAP2 have the balance down to a T, with pervasive beats and indisputably good lyrical advice, see recently released single ‘Do What You Love’.
Despite a moniker teetering on the edge of embarrassingly corny, ‘are we human or are we dancer’ logic, Machines Are People Too are resoundingly committed to both the human and electronic touch. Expanding from a DJ duo playing house shows with laptops, to a full-fleshed out band replete with a real living drummer, the Tennessee foursome have become notorious in their hometown for wildly fun shows-turned-raves. And with songs exulting the inner freak and feel-good anthems abounding, it’s not surprising listeners can’t sit still once caught up in their peppy grooves.
