Yiigaa hits the spot with captivating new track "Wounds" featuring Louis Culture
Fuelled by infectious beats and Yiigaa's casually brilliant delivery, "Wounds" is a track that sees the artist free herself from internal worries and find the strength to move onwards.
Having made her mark with the release of her debut EP Mist last year, Yiigaa is a London-based artist on the rise, and with new single "Wounds" you get the sense that she's really about to hit her stride.
There's something within the luscious production of "Wounds" that makes it feel as though you've known the song for ages, as it seamlessly plays homage to 90's R&B with a glimmer of nostalgia hiding within its beats whilst the infectious melodies hook you in from the outset.
The song sees Yiigaa push forward, both with the subject matter of the track as well as artistically. It sees her push past her troubles and find an inner strength as she asserts "Now I've lost that feeling / Now I don't feel so alone." South-London artist Louis Culture's involvement also adds a further layer of interest to the track, adding his side to the story with an effortless flow.
Explaining the inspiration behind the song, Yiigaa says “The track is an insight into an emotional journey into self-belonging, leaving the past behind, moving forward and getting though the hard times on your own." Adding how the track is really about "The voice in your head getting you back on track."
The track is taken from her upcoming mixtape Blue Rivers In My Wrist which is due to be released this June and also features previous single "Enigma".
