Watch: Sweet Gum Tree feat Isobel Campbell – “Bird of Passage” [Premiere]
Scottish singer Isobel Campbell – known for her time with Belle & Sebastian and her many collaborations with Mark Lanegan – has now lent her distinctly sweet vocals to French songwriter Arno Sojo’s new project Sweet Gum Tree.
- A gently lilting fok-pop number “Bird of Passage” is the first cut to come from said album, its hazy melancholic tone now reflected in the vintage feel of the videos’ visuals. A thing of delicate beauty “Bird of Passage”‘s sweeping cinematic strings, classical structures and wonderfully textured acoustics provide the perfect backbone to Sojo’s and Campbell’s intertwined vocals – one saccharine, one deep and brooding.
Sweet Gum Tree’s new album The Snakes You Charm & The Wolves You Tame comes out 3 February 2014 via Dreamy Bird/Cadiz Music. Live shows are set to take place in Brighton, Birmingham and London.
