Another sublime offering from Australia’s Future Classic stable; a glorious throwback to the hedonistic days of Factory-era Manchester doused in super strength acid. Australian duo Jagwar Ma’s latest single ‘The Throw’ is an irresistible dose of baggy pop that has the danceability of ‘Wrote For Luck’-era Happy Mondays with all the aggressive psychedelic gut punch of Primal Scream during their Kevin Shields (XLR8R) phase.
As you’d expect from a track so sprawling and epic, the accompanying video is completely hypnotising. Filmed in double time and slowed down to match the swaggering pace, flecks of neon lights and colour invade the screen: creating a masterpiece of light and sound. Utterly essential stuff.
‘The Throw’ drops via Marathon Artists / Future Classic on 25 February with a debut album to follow later in the year.
