Watch: Glitches – “RGB” [Premiere]
“Are we doing enough to escape all of this?” – the mission statement Glitches gave us when we interviewed them back in the height of summer. After the festival-tuned, anthemic swirl of “Only Time Will Tell”, their bold, bubbly spin on escapist guitar-pop injects its galloping panache with a moody, darker edge.
“RGB” marries the itching grooves of early Foals with a slick, classy electronic wash all of their own, underpinning the track’s soaring vocal euphoria with brooding emotional depth.
From their Whitechapel flat (in close proximity to the Algerian mafia, allegedly), these three Londoners show an ever-burgeoning knack for nestling intelligent, thoughtful inventiveness amongst a more instant pop sensibility. Under the wing of the Kissability label, the widescreen ambition of this smart trio (seriously, last time we met we learned more about the influence of the Holy Roman Empire on Germany than you’d believe) looks ripe to continue blossoming into an exciting artistic vision in 2014.
We’re chuffed to be premiering the band first foray into choreographed dance, in the video for “RGB” – directed by Holly Blakey, of Jessie Ware’s “Night Light” fame.
The band are currently recording their debut album, and tour the UK in November and December – culminating in three special shows in the Dalston WWII Bunker. For more information, and to buy tickets, head here.
