Vicky Sometani mines a passionate core on tender folk cut “Come To You”
Snapshotting her unique vocal prowess and soulful sincerity with the acclaim of debut single “Breeze” and recent releases “Perfume” and “Maybe”, Vicky Sometani is attracting an ever-growing legion of listeners, drawn to her endearingly frayed, blues-tilting range - unfiltered traits that find space to blossom on latest track “Come To You”.
Fitting neatly into an oeuvre that has seen London-based Chicago-born Vicky Sometani unremittingly wear her heart on her sleeve, “Come To You” floats with skittish ethereality in a laid-back jaunt of folk textures, jazz-leaning nods and a mesmeric voice that partly recalls the waif-like vibrato of Joanna Newsom.
Channelling personal origins and the undiluted willpower from which her career has taken root, Sometani’s songwriting reflects the pressures of adapting to new environments, an emotively charged surge coursing throughout, harnessing exacting creative integrity and dedication.
Vicky Sometani · Come To YouCommenting on the EP release, which coincides with that of its title track and lead single, Sometani says: “These songs are raw and vulnerable expressions of my journey since moving to London, my need for growth, healing, and change and finding it all through returning to myself through music. I’m so grateful to have had some incredible musicians play on these, adding the soul and groove I was looking for.”
