Ulrika Spacek's "Beta Male" is experimental fuzz-rock like no other
London-based art rockers Ulrika Spacek anticipate the release of their debut offering The Album Paranoia with alt-grunge single "Beta Male".
Acting as a follow-up to lead single "She's A Cult", "Beta Male", the latest song by the band formed in Berlin by Rhys Edwards and Rhys Williams, is wonderfully laced with hints of Sonic Youth and Krautrock.
The track, much like the LP in its entirety, is full of hypnotic fuzz in its ideology and manages to cross-pollinate experimental additives atop a grunge-infused bedrock.
Beginning as an instrumental slow-burner, "Beta Male" plunges into vocal simplicity around the half-way mark, masterfully accenting its distortive nature.
The Album Paranoia is released on 5 February via Tough Love Records (EU) and Lefse Records (US). See below for accompanying tour dates.
