A lot of people seem to be sick of Tyler, The Creator (and Odd Future generally) already. I’d wager they are, in the main, the people who haven’t actually listened to any of the records yet.
How can you possibly argue with a group of people whose mantra is, “Kill People, Burn Shit, Fuck School”? How can you argue with a man who writes lines like, “Jesus called / He said he’s sick of the disses / I told him to quit bitchin’ / This isn’t a fucking hotline / For a fucking shrink”?
‘Seven’ is from Tyler’s first studio album, Bastard. This remix by Stones Throw luminary James Pants sees the track thrown under an even darker pall than that which covered the original. It starts out all short reverbs, war drums and unexplained explosions – before opening up into something more eulogistic, more mournful.
Odd Future are playing Camden Crawl this year. Worth braving NW1 for.
