Nigerian poet Tobi Sunmola highlights injustice in the modern music industry on “Simba”
Now residing in Manchester, Tobi Sunmola delivers a powerful testimony centered around ethnological struggle.
Like contemporaries Obongjayar and Kojey Radical, Tobi Sunmola is combining his love for hip hop and spoken word with rich African rhythms whilst grappling with important social and racial issues that continue to plague our society.
Co-produced by fellow Mancunian TWO4KAY, “Simba” is an introspective look at Sunmola’s unwavering pursuit of greatness as life throws increasingly difficult challenges his way. Melancholic chords are complemented by a jubilant hip-hop beat all topped off with Sunmola’s infectious flow. This track has a versatility that is becoming increasingly common within alternative hip hop as different influences and styles take centre stage.
