Listen: To Be Frank – “Somebody Like You” [Premiere]
Frank Pescod, AKA To Be Frank, has been on something of a hot streak lately. After dropping two warmly received EPs last Autumn, his new single “The Only One” was released just two weeks ago. The man doesn’t know how to take a break, and thank goodness for that: today on Best Fit, we premiere his latest, “Somebody Like You”.
“Somebody Like You” is not a cover of the similarly named Adele track from years back. It is, however, something of a spiritual successor, a gorgeously spare (string section flourishes notwithstanding) piano ballad with a similarly driving-through-the-rain-crying sing-along chorus. Lyrically, it’s the tale of what happens when one goes looking for the kind of love they’ve already had, and lost. The result? “I’ve wasted all time trying to find somebody like you”.
When heartbreak is this beautiful, it’s impossible not to enjoy. Happy Valentine’s all.
