Anticipation for the Thundercat record is reaching ridiculous levels on certain parts of the internet. The LA artist’s Flying Lotus-produced The Golden Age of Apocalypse is set for release in August – and, if the two tracks that have materialised so far are an accurate indication, it will be very special indeed.
‘Daylight’ begins in clattering, robo-prog style before quickly opening up into West Coast-morning neo-soul beauty. The scatty FlyLo synth sounds are all there, underpinned by beautiful Rhodes keys and about three separate bass lines. Perfect.
The Golden Age… is out on Brainfeeder on 30 August. In the meantime, download ‘Daylight’ below.
