Do you ever find yourself panicking about the big questions in life? Mortality, the nature of time, that sort of thing? We all do secretly; such is human nature.
The Lovely Eggs seem particularly pre-occupied with these issues. Clearly not ones to shy away from the major talking points of the day, their latest single ‘Fuck It’ considers conundrums like, “Can I write a letter when I’m thirsty?” and, “Does the light from the stars mean you’re not born?”
As well as being almost entirely unintelligible, ‘Fuck It’ is sweet, unsettling, and unexpectedly affecting. The arrangement owes a debt to Jefferson Airplane, but it is the deadpan Northern delivery (along with the comically existentialist lyrics) that set it apart. Funny, intelligent, and highly unlikely ever to receive mainstream radio play.
‘Fuck It’ is out now on Cherryade.
