Experimental, electronic-folk trio, The Acid, release new cut, “Creeper”, from their forthcoming debut album, Liminal. The track combines lyrics that are part predatorial, part introspective with minimalist rhythmic rattlings and inspiring synth-waves to create three minutes of enthralling, progressive indie-house.
Vocalist Ry X murmurs invitingly throughout in his lush Australian timbre, declaring rather disturbingly his desire “I wanna love you like a creeper knows”. It only adds further to the darker edge that “Creeper” conveys in comparison to previous tracks such as “Animal” and “Basic Instinct”.
Sporadic bass rumblings and spluttering snares merge to give an indication of the ‘less-is-more’ approach that DJ Adam Freeland and producer Steve Nalepa have adopted on this new recording. A fleeting moment of building synthesizers adds a fantastically uplifting spirit, before being snatched away instantly and allowing the track to return to its bleak setting once more.
Stream The Acid’s debut effort, The Acid EP, now on the band’s soundcloud. Liminal is out on 2 June.
