TEETH are one of the most gloriously shambolic enjoyable live acts I’ve ever seen.Their shows don’t really conform to any of the conventions one might associate with a ‘gig’. Instead, notions of performance or professionalism are jettisoned entirely, in favour of fun, borderline chaos, and suspiciously dilated pupils.
That chaos seems, in fact, to be a reflection of their daily lives; lives that involve, amongst other things, successfully impersonating fist-clenchingly over-earnest wannabe-bad-boy hack Will Self. They only gave up because they got bored.
Now, TEETH are ready to deliver their serrated, hardcore-inspired electro in handy LP form. ‘Care Bear’ is the misleadingly titled first single from their forthcoming debut album – and here it is remixed by the fantastically prolific Dreamtrak, in whose hands it becomes a spacious, bulbous thing, capable of inducing spasms at 30 paces.
TEETH’s debut album, Whatever, is due out on Moshi Moshi in September. ‘Care Bear’ is out on 25 July. The band play the Lexington on 21 September; tickets here.
