Listen: TĀLĀ - "On My Own In Hua Hin"
We still don’t know a great deal about the enigmatic new talent that is TĀLĀ, only that she’s of Iranian descent and was born in London. What is certain, however, is that she churns out some seriously harrowing and gutsy music. Imagine FKA twigs in fast-forward, and you’re just about there.
Shortly before the release of her debut EP The Duchess yesterday, TĀLĀ unveiled the final piece of the record’s puzzle: “On My Own In Hua Hin”. It was a song that stretched right out from the latter end of last week and into the weekend, zipped up with hammer-head beats, synths, Middle Eastern melodies and an aquatic gloop to rival Jai Paul’s signature shroud.
In short, it’s extremely exciting times for this mysterious artist.
The Duchess is out now via Aesop - available on 12” or digitally.
