Kitty Cash, native New Yorker, DJ and eclectic music connoisseur, is set to release Love the Free II, a mixtape curated by the young DJ that overflows with exclusive new material from the likes of Dev Hynes and SZA. The latter fellow US citizen has now unveiled the track “Moodring”, produced by Felix Snow, previous collaborator - y’all remember “Julia”? - and master of tight and unwilting compositions.
“Moodring” is an oeuvre that will inspire more than one 90s trend-induced nostalgia trip. Grounded only by its processed beats and muttering bass line, it’s filled to the brim with angelic reverberating vocals that elevate this smooth track to lofty heights. Everything - from the unwavering chimes and sleigh bells to the ever-morphing fingerpicking guitar and multilayered echoed vocals - make this a celestial and soothingly irresistible track. Glitter Trap they call it, and it’s simply great.
Love the Free II is released on 22 July.
