Listen: Sunboy - "A.B.C.D.N.A."
Colorado duo Sunboy deal a deft hand in writing powerful, psych-infused songs despite only being a year or two into their career. From last year's "Anxious People" and "Aphrodisia", to their new release, "A.B.C.D.N.A", each track hears the pair better weave in eclectic sounds that lifts them further out of a heavy-lidded haze.
Don't get us wrong, we're more than a little partial to "far ouuutt" sounds. But on "A.B.C.D.N.A", Sunboy go that little bit further with jittering samples and electro-funk basslines, all the while awash with signature kaleidoscopic guitars and 60s' organ whirrs.
Perhaps it's the act - intentional or not - of Sunboy turning the psych revival on its head that's earning them some deserved attention. We're right behind them.
"A.B.C.D.N.A" appears on 80N7's forthcoming compilation out on 27 September. Pre-order here.
