Starling cements her identity with haunting new track "Misfit" [Premiere]
From the stripped back piano intro on "Misfit", Starling commands your attention.
Vocals ring clear, subtle nuances chime in the background but nothing distracts from the artist's unwavering words. Echoing with elegance, the track places a potent resolve in every resounding note.
Delicate and forceful all at once, Starling's second offering rings with the kind of conviction that leaves hairs on end and sends shivers down spines. Building ever so gently, "Misfit" is an anthem without the rally - a graceful tour de force from a musician who's found her talent in learning to play to her own rules.
"Driven by such a hunger to be understood or accepted that most of my life has meant a kind of compromising. Anything to be loved or liked, leaving myself behind," Starling said of her inspiration behind the track.
"I wrote 'Misfit' in an instance. Guess it was like an emotional sickness, a turning point inside, and I hope that if this sounds familiar to you, that you, like me, will fuck it all off and just be you, no compromise.”
