Visit a higher plane with new duo Stalgia's escapist pop stunner "Heaven + Mimosas"
Having caught our attention with the beautifully languid "In The Trees" this summer, emerging duo Stalgia return today with its dreamy follow-up "Heaven + Mimosas". It's a step up in gear, trust us.
Formed by Lauren Day - whose daydreamy poetry lies at the heart of the project - and Brandon Leslie, Stalgia might never have come together under different circumstances. The daughter of a pastor, Lauren found an escape in writing music, while Brandon found solace in hardcore music after a childhood marred by bullies. Opposites do attract and together they've flipped those insecurities into something positive, finding a perfect balance of R&B-meets-hypnotic pop in the process.
"I feel completely weightless, floating in an abyss of love; a reminder of everything truly important in life," says Day over email. That sense of catharsis is wrought into every chord, Day wringing out each syllable with a full heart over trilling drum machines and bleached guitars. A true snapshot of the human condition from a pair who are very much on the up.
