Sportsman unveils simmering synth-R&B single "White Shark"
Swedish R&Ber Sportsman has shared new single "White Shark", a tantalising preview of upcoming debut record Neverland.
The song, produced and written with HNNY (Johan Cederberg), follows sensational lead jam "Running On A Beach". It's a silvery sliver of pop with phantom-like synths that wobble and fade in and out of consciousness, tropical-laced guitars, and Sportsman's own psychedelic vocal wisps. It's a calm and glossy track on the surface - it's easy to get lost in - but shadowy sounds and dark bass throbs stir an eerie bite beneath.
"'White Shark' is about wanting something, even though you know it's bad for you," explains Sportsman's Per Magnusson. "We recorded it on Öland. The horizon was this shade of blue and white and Johan said: 'this song should have that colour.... and it should take place underwater.'"
