West London collective Sports Team share their debut track “Stanton”
Cambridge alumni turned post-punk anti-heroes channel their cynicism and millennial depression into a rallying cry against multi-story car parks and London suburbia.
Combining the nasal snarl of Bon Scott with Todd Rundgren produced Psychedelic Furs, Sports Team have carved out a sound that defies expectation. The group have cast off the shackles of regurgitated indie pop in favour of a raw and unfiltered look at the everything from the state of the commuter belt to the troubles facing young professionals.
Sports Team, like fellow Londoner's Shame, have clawed out of the post-apocalyptic wasteland that is British guitar music and delivered an offering that draws heavily from this island’s rich musical history whilst setting their sights firmly on the future.
