SOTD #91 // Sunday Girl: 'Self Control (Fenech-Soler Remix)'
Here’s a Sunday Girl, that unlike the one featured in Blondie’s 1979 No.1 single, has no need to run and hide. Well not any more, not since her mum arranged for hypnotherapy to overcome her fear of performing. With that all behind her Jade Williams aka Sunday Girl (duly named after working in a pet shop on Sundays) is a pop-star poised to dominate charts and hearts.
Our Song Of The Day is a Fenech-Soler Remix of ‘Self Control’ that throbs and gyrates like Tom Jones battling Barry White for the affections of the over-fifties. Her vocals switch from overpowering-diva to whispering-sex-kitten in a heartbeat before being post-processed into digital chop-suey and served up for your gratification.
She’s certainly worth keeping a close eye on and is very capable of making in-roads to the mainstream. When your mum is singing this in the shower next year, remember where you heard it first.
