Kompakt are part of the holy trinity of melodic techno; a triumvirate that also contains BPitch Control and Border Community. In some ways, then, they seem an odd choice of label for WhoMadeWho.
The Danish trio, who have been playing together since 2003, might be more obviously associated with various sub-genres of guitar music than with, for example, Gui Boratto. Theirs is a sound that exists on the dividing line between dEUS and Richie Hawtin, or perhaps between Queens Of The Stone Age and Carl Craig.
Today’s Song Of The Day is a brand new version of ‘Every Minute Alone’, remixed by The Circle – which is a new project from Danish house producer Tomboy. It is, in fact, more of a complete re-imagining than a remix, taking the original and drawing it out into a few minutes of trancey, kick-drum heavy beauty.
