SOTD #172 // Chad Valley: 'Anything (Seams Remix)'
Today we bring you an exclusive track from the incredible Seams who takes ‘Anything’ from Chad Valley’s self-titled EP and remixes the hell out of it. The collision of two electro-nerds who explore electronics and dance music in two very different ways. This reworking comes as a great example of how brilliant the outcome can be when the two come together.
Seams takes ‘Anything’ and its shattering tropical haze and filters it into an altogether smoother, more instrumental ride, whilst revitalising the delicate frenzy of drums and breaking up those 90’s house vocals to keep its Balearic soul alive. A plucky guitar loop sneaks through to add a light touch to the underplayed vocals and chugging basslines which hoist us into the crescendo. The track peaks into a pulsation of textured reverb and oscillating synths that slowly bubble back into the simmering sound of the drum beat. Its another example of what excites us about Seams; like recent single ‘Hung Markets’, he steers away from the obvious, dancier techno in favour of beat led techno-atmospherics, or ‘technospherics’ that make ‘Anything’ seem like a fresh Ibizan breeze.
