Today we bring you Floridian jinglebell’s with Mike Diaz’s (aka Millionyoung) upbeat new single ‘Calrissian’. The first track to be released from the forthcoming long-player Atmospheric Beast, it’s a sweet taster of what is to be expected from this eagerly awaited debut. With a sci-fi dork’s dream song name like ‘Clarissian’ there are of course the odd sci-fi elements: trails of sexy synth’s, cheesy 60’s guitarlines and shattered reverb. And it seems that Millionyoung has left behind the tribal rhythms and afrobeats of his EP Be So True yet still retaining the icy blissful quality that underlines his music; leaving us with an altogether more delicate dance track.
Dreamy vocals call out from the pusalting synthy distance and simple rustling bells usher us along through a beachy daze. It has the same drifty upbeat qualities of Gypsy & The Cat and Dominant Legs so it’s hard not to let yourself be transported to their glowing, blissful idyll while sat at your laptop in a scarf and scrooge-gloves. Officially released digitally on Old Flame Records in early January 2011 it is for now at least, a gentle way to slip into the season like a warm pair of slippers.
