SOTD #139 // Seven Saturdays: 'The Shallow End (White Sea Remix)'
Monday to Friday are without question a pain in the arse, Sunday isn’t much better either – as the foreboding sense of dread for the week ahead starts to kick in. That’s why Saturday is clearly the finest day and has been the subject of so many songs. Now imagine seven of the buggers back to back; that’s what Jonathan D. Haskell did with his multi-instrumental project. Sound good?
Seven Saturdays release their second EP The Snowflakes That Hit Us Became Our Stars on the 18th of October and to precede its arrival we are offering the White Sea (Morgan Grace Kibby (M83)) remix of ‘The Shallow End’ as our Song Of The Day. Its gentles waves of sound lap away at elated shores before building into a sonic crescendo of multi-layered vocals and orchestration that beat down relentlessly. Its union of ambience and intensity pulses with the energy of a long overdue thunderstorm, pulling negative and positive ions into a flurry of spine-tingling power. Oh, you get the idea, just bliss out to this whilst eating an entire packet of HobNobs.
