It was pretty much love at first listen after discovering Millionyoung a few months ago. Not only was he recommended to me by someone who’s music taste I trust implicitly, but I’m also fairly confident Mike Diaz lifted his stage persona from the song “Million Young” by the vastly overlooked American Analog Set. And in my fickle book, anyone that name-checks Amanset instantly gets a gold star. But what about the music?
See that picture up there^. That’s exactly what his music sounds like to me. Soft hues of reverberated vocals, a warm balearic breeze drifting through the drowsy yet danceable rhythms. It’s paradise in aural form: an instant four minute vacation.
“Soft Denial” is lifted from Diaz’s latest EP Be So True (available to buy here, via Arcade Sound Ltd). You can also pick up two free Millionyoung releases via his official site. All extremely worthwhile.
Look out for European and UK Millionyoung tour dates to be announced soon.
