Hello, hello. Welcome back to Song Of The Day… Last weeks posts were of course was curated by the delicious folk siren Alessi Laurent-Marke, so we’re back on track today – fully refreshed and loaded with a barrel full of incredible music to share with you.
This Is Head are a quartet who practice very much in the sound of new Göteborg. Recommended to me by a friend in Stockholm only a couple of days ago, their debut album 0001 (released last week via Adrian Recordings) has rarely left my iTunes since. Hailing from Malmö in the far South-West of Sweden, This Is Head wear their influences very much on their collective sleeve. Obviously inspired heavily by the production stylings of one of Sweden’s most respected artists Dan Lissvik and indeed his solo album 7 Trx + Intermission (both in sound and the use of non-song titles), the band mesh together the spiralling kraut workouts of the Lissvik produced duo Fontän with the progressive space-rock of London based A Mountain Of One. Throwing in fellow Gothenburg sonic explorers Ikons and Franke into the mix – This Is Head manage to churn out a sound that is exceedingly fresh and frightfully exhilarating.
“0003″ is a ten minute long adventure down the autobahn of life. The adventure starts now!
Find This Is Head on MySpace or visit their official blog here. The vinyl edition of 0001 is limited to 250 copies. For more information on this, or any other Adrian Recordings release, click here.
