SOTD #26 // Future Trends: 'Sometimes Things Don't Match Up'
As is often the case with the current influx of bedroom electronica, we don’t really know too much about the guy behind Future Trends, one Andrew Clark from Ohio. Judging by his blog “Soon We Will Sleep Forever” he’s a jack of all trades. Designer, photographer (that’s one of his lovely Holga shots above) and musician, Clark is obviously a man of many talents.
It’s his newest cut that’s really got our attention though, “Sometimes Things Don’t Match Up” is a four minute celestial delight of minimal techno that sees Clark’s distant yet winsome vocals float up, over and around the bleeping synths and pulsing rhythms like a lonely ghost rattling round a deserted house. Think The Field meets Memory Tapes for a port of call.
Check the blog for more free material including tracks from his forthcoming album Palace Of Dust.
