Describing themselves as “dreampop folk-gaze”, Foxx Bandits are so new to the world that they’re yet to play their first live show (more on that later). Undoubtedly dreaming up the non-existent folk-gaze genre to trick shallow fools like me into listening to them, amazingly it bloody well worked. Luckily then, they’re not half bad – hence their appearance here.
Hailing from West London and currently busy writing and demoing new material, “Vodka Lines” is literally the only thing the band have made available. It’s an intriguing listen too. Harking back to the English Americana revival (yes, it really did happen – I lived it maaaaaan) from the early 2000′s – check the roster of the now defunct Gravity Records (The Vessels, Grand Drive et al) for examples. An understated, shuffling beauty envelopes across this first 5-minute peak of Foxx Bandits, who will no doubt appeal as much to admirers of Mumford & Sons as fans of the much missed American Analog Set.
The band will play their first ever show at Camden’s Barfly on 18th March. Check their MySpace for future shows. Listen for yourself below.
