Song Of The Day #194 // Adventure – Feels Like Heaven
There’s a weird delight that courses through me when the sound of an eighties video game effect graces a stereo speaker. Granted, there are times when the whole thing can go a little bit too far, but it’s one of the finer twiwts of nostalgic noise that soothes me as if floating back into a child-like state of freedom. So as this brand new tune from Car Park’s Adventure popped into the inbox, from those very first notes I was transported instantaneously to some infant memory, free of all responsibility. And that should be the sign of any slab of homage such as this, shouldn’t it?
Adventure is 24 year old Benny Boeldt from North Carolina and this here song, ‘Feels Like Heaven’, features on his forthcoming sophomore album, The Lesser Known. And, surely enough, such a title plays on the demand of a repetitive vocal, with Boeldt beautifully competing with a falsetto, almost cartoon-like version of himself for melodic supremacy. The bass lines switch platforms from it’s simple, Rio-style simpliticity at the beginning before being transformed by a dizzying array of synth noise, building up to Boeldt’s realisation that all of this is His Heaven’ after all.
His moniker, then, is truly apt, and his heaven is something to savour even if, right now, it is only momentary.
