Sody marks her return with the meteoric power of mesmeric new track "Maybe It Was Me"
Having only just turned 18, the rising pop talent makes her heady return with the poignant and deceptive simplicity of her latest offering.
Sody first caught our attention back in 2017 with the anthemic pop brilliance of "Let Go", and with her first cut from 2018 we find an artist who is quickly maturing into her craft.
From the first few bars, with it's simple piano chords and Sody's entrancing vocals, "Maybe It Was Me" rings out a with an immediate, radio-friendly catchiness. Sody's elegant grasp of catchy melodic structures is effortless and performed in a way that makes the whole thing look easy.
She speaks bluntly and honestly about the relationship that has fallen apart and the cracks of pain and the hurt of first love is all captured with incredible ease through her lyrics. It shows a maturity far beyond her years and once again shows why she is a pop talent to continue keeping an eye out for.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, Sody says "The song is about my first ever boyfriend who is still one of my friends now. It’s me reflecting on the relationship and accepting that maybe I wasn’t as kind and mindful as I could have been. It’s a sort of apology for my actions. I wanted a video that could capture the honesty of the song. Just simple, beautiful and without the distraction of narratives or over-thinking."
