Snoh Aalegra drops sultry R&B banger “Situationship”
Dynamic Iranian/Swedish singer songwriter Snoh Aalegra has released “Situationship” from her anticipated album - Ugh, those feels again.
In many ways Snoh Aalegra feels like a modern day Sade, crafting deep-cut R&B that overflows with authentic emotion and rich sonic texture. Her signature croon, which draws from classic soul torchbearers like Lauryn Hill and Nina Simone, never feels derivative yet effortlessly calls back to the sounds of the past, imbuing those nostalgic vibes with personal nuance and raw emotion.
"Situationship" is a term the songstress coined to express the complexities of modern day courtship. The intoxicating track chronicles an intimate situation amongst two people struggling to understand the nature of their relationship, torn between pursuing a traditional approach to romance or something more casual. With that indecision comes the pressures to leave or stay, which allows Aalegra a broad canvas to communicate her unique life experience as an Iranian woman who’s long felt like an outsider, now becoming her own person and seeing through her artistic goals.
