Swedish artist Shaqdi reveals ethereal new track “Daydreaming”
Following her critically-acclaimed debut EP Colourless, Shaqdi is back with her latest release “Daydreaming”.
“Daydreaming” is as otherworldly as the name suggests, with a sticky-sweet mix of minimal electro-pop and nu-R&B, reminiscent of Noname’s breezy lyricism. Channelling music comes naturally to Shaqdi, too - she learnt to play the piano and violin from the age of 4, and pursued her passion studying music at Kulturama in Stockholm.
With bars like “Everybody seems to know what’s best for you / Thinking they know better than the rest of us do / Everybody wanna give a piece of advice / But they should know better than to f*ck with my life”, the track's relatability is a breath of fresh air amongst the ballads and break-up songs that so often surround the industry.
“We absolutely love talking about other people, what they’re doing wrong, what they should change and how they should live their life.” Shaqdi explains. “We need to establish confidence and trust in ourselves instead of taking lectures from each other. To me, daydreaming is all about creating your own reality and to zone out from the world people want you to believe and live in.”
