Newcomer Samson Ashe samples Vicki Anderson on stunning single “Too Rough”
This alt-pop gem sees the North Londoner deftly marry new school R&B with colourful beats and vintage soul.
Raised on a strict diet of Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Marvin Gaye and Oasis, 24-year-old Samson Ashe has been honing his craft since the tender age of 13, humming into Voice Note and his mum’s iPhone before graduating to more professional equipment.

Ashe joins industry titans P*Nut and Ben Baptie on sultry soul number “Too Rough” which samples Vicki Anderson’s “I’m Too Tough For Mr Big Stuff” written by the legendary Brownstone partnership of James Brown and Henry Stone.
A real triumph, “Too Rough” is heavily indebted to the sounds of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s whilst being contemporary in its presentation.
