Damu is rapidly becoming one of our favourite remixers. The Manchester producer, whose beautiful ‘Don’t Cry In My Bed’ was one of last year’s most enjoyable tracks, has since turned his hand to guitar bands, recently turning in a beautiful remix of Lanterns On The Lake.
His latest release is a delightfully skittish rework of Post War Years’ ‘Brazil’. Damu draws out the convulsing synths of the Chess Club outfit’s original to disorienting effect, stripping the track of its vocals and replacing them with cash-till percussion and tightly clipped kick drum. It’s a big room track hewn from the work of a band that already has one foot in the club.
