Alt-indie trio POOL have self-released their latest single “Harm”, a deliciously catchy, disco stomper of a track, falling somewhere between the 60s funk of Sly and the Family Stone, and the slick, distilled cool of 90s George Clinton.
The up and coming disco-pop merchants, Daniel Husten, David Stoltzenberg and Nils Hansen, are childhood friends from Germany making music combining psychedelic, adrenaline-shot guitar riffs with attitude-laden bass lines and sensual, rhythmic drum beats. Vocally, Husten (guitar) and Nils (drums) produce a rough, husky European drawl that contrasts perfectly with the glossy commercialism of their music.
“Harm” is available as a free download on POOL’s soundcloud and is the follow up to two releases from 2013 by the German musicians, these being the incendiary EPs Flex and Game Over.
