Listen: PILLARS - “Woman Without Her Love” [Premiere]
Female-fronted electro-pop; the genre is bursting at the seams and we’re more than happy about it. From Emilie Nicolas’ beautifully ballsy composition to Shura’s 80s-inspired work, there’s no denying it continues to be a wonderfully thriving market. Today a West London-based newcomer puts her hand up to join the growing ranks.
PILLARS impressed back in November, calling on support from production duo Deafkid (who also add their hue to this new one) to rework her brilliant debut “Attacker”. Now the enigmatic songwriter grabs our attention again with a new piece of sophisticated sultriness.
Focusing on the elegant beauty of her vocal, PILLARS gracefully maneuvers a blissful melody above stripped-back, loungey production. Growing organically from its airy, organ beginnings into a passionate, romantically melancholic outburst, “Woman Without Her Love” sends a poignant message, simultaneously resting between the ears with its gentle hookiness.
